Aramane - Ganesh repeats himself

Aramane is an emotional saga between a wealthy man who lives in a huge Aramane (palace in Kannada) and a small time photographer. Ananth Nag (now he has to be there in a Ganesh movie), a loner with an estranged family requests photographer Ganesh, an orphan, to unite his family. In the end, Ganesh succeeds in uniting Ananth Nag’s family but… but… but …… fails in his own love matter. Now does that ring a bell?????????? And.....Ganesh needs to do this to revive the magic of Mungaru MaLe. But.......reviving the magic isnt that easy!

“Aramane” continues Ganesh’s trysts with sad climaxes and so is his tryst with the presence of Ananth Nag. A variety climax for a different story would have created the magic but again…………it’s a Ganesh movie.

Now, it is a fresh story though the direction is not all that great. The story line could have been handled well. The film starts well though gets boring after intermission; gains momentum towards the end, but the magic is short-lived with the monotonous climax.

The sound track by Guru Kiran is OK though it fails to recreate the magic of the evergreen Mungaru MaLe (did I say recreating magic is not easy!!!) and the more recent Gaalipata. Cinematography is also not worth mentioning.

The director pays a tribute to Raj Kapoor by dressing Ganesh as various characters from Raj Kapoor’s films in one of the songs. Though the song is creatively shot, it lacks the punch and Ganesh fails miserably in his attempt to make a mark in this song. He is at his best in the rest of the movie. Ananth Nag has done justice to the role and so did all the others, who have very little screen space.

Overall you can watch it once but remember you will simply forget it the moment you are done with it. The only thing that gets imprinted on your memory is the bad looks/make-up/handling of Ganesh in that song where he dresses-up like various characters played by Raj Kapoor. Now…..its very hard to forget that song……..its too scarry !!!
