Mediocre Food, but Terrific Service

Before I begin this review, I would like to tell you a funny little story about Arby’s. When I was younger and living on Long Island, there was an Arby’s somewhere in Smithtown. One day, everyone in the car was hungry and the first place we saw was Arby’s, so Mom asked us if we wanted to go there. My little sister said that she didn’t want seafood. No one understood why she thought seafood was there, and she said, ’’Well, look at the big fish!’’ No one knew what she was talking about. From then on, whenever we’d pass an Arby’s, Julie would call it ’’the big fish.’’ Finally, Mom and I realized that if you look at the Arby’s sign, the hat looks like a fish standing on its tail!

Before moving to Alaska, I only ate at an Arby’s once, and that was while I was shooting a film in Tennessee. I can’t exactly remember my experience back then, but I do remember having the roastbeef sandwich. When I worked in a mall where there was an Arby’s, I ate there every now and again. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t that great either. I liked eating there because the service was quick and the restaurant was clean. The food was mediocre, but what can you do?

Many times, the sandwiches are cold. When I went the first time with a friend of mine, my roastbeef sandwich was ice cold, but his chicken cordon bleu was piping hot. My roastbeef sandwich has ranged from ice cold to lukewarm in all the times I’ve eaten at Arby’s, regardless of which state I’m in.

What’s the best thing about Arby’s? The curly fries. Whenever you get a combo meal, you can chose from shoestring fries, potato cakes or curly fries. The curly fries are seasoned wonderfully and are always hot. They’re terrific with cheese or ranch dressing.

Don’t go out of your way to eat at Arby’s. It’s alright if it’s convenient, but it’s really nothing special. I’d take Wendy’s over Arby’s any day.

Food: curly fries are terrific; roastbeef sandwiches are usually cold; mediocre quality overall

Service: quick and friendly

Decor: It’s a fast food restaurant, just like McDonald’s and Burger King. There’s nothing special to mention here.
