Millions of years back , when dinosaurs ruled the world , an object just 6 miles in length hit the earth causing the mass extinction of the reptiles.This happened and will happen again.If it happens the consequence will be ’’Armegeddon’’.
The movie by Michael Bay starts with the above narration.When an asteroid and particles of rock come towards earth at a mind boggling speed of 22000 miles per hour and that could wipe the whole mankind, what will human beings do?One of theirprobable rescue attempts forms the story line of ’’Armegggedon’’.
Bruce Willis(Harry Stamper) and his crew of drillers form a part of the mission to land on the asteroid and split the asteroid using nuclear bomb.This forms the base plot of the movie.Liv Tyler(Grace) Plays Bruce’s Daughter and Ben Affleck(A.J) , Grace’s Boyfriend.Billy Bob who plays NASA’s chief has done the job to perfection.The romantic scenes between Liv and Ben are picturized with life.
There are many gripping moments in the movie.Dialogues are punchy.For Instance, ’’Nothing will survive not even bacteria.’’.Indeed a very well screenplayed movie.Cast performances are as required.Sound effects are astounding, a typical of hollywood movies.There are certain scenes that go seriously against the logic.But still they are overcome beautifully in the narration.
I noticed a small fault though not noticed by many.There are two CGI scenes that repeat twice.But they appear for only few.These techniques will be used when there is a lack of time and the project nears a deadline.After all only 2% of the people will notice this.
Special effects again forms the back bone.Around half of the movie is CGI.Good cast performances, Great special effects, Lovely plot makes the movie a must see, inspite of a few logical flaws.
