My Father suffered Heart attack and was subsequently admitted to Artemis. After six days they did Angiography and without much explanation did Angioplasty, immediately. Just after operation, I asked one of the attending doctor that in-spite of my dad having one 100% blockage and two 70-80% blockages why did they put stent and did not go for bypass (this knowledge was given by one of my relatives when procedure was being carried out) the doctor replied his creatine level was high(it was 2 then).
Subsequently, after discharge I took opinion of a family friend cardiac anesthetist and doctors of Escor, Medanta, GB Pant & DHLI all told it was a text book case of Bypass and the parameter of Creatine could have been controlled.
We went to hospital again but the doctor is too busy (pretends) and said let him recover fully and then we will go for another stent. They believe the patient and his family can be manipulated by putting facts in a twisted and self profiteering manner.
Conclusion: The reason he was given that treatment was they wanted to make money on ECHS facility my dad had, as he is a retired ex serviceman. They are only interested in making money and dont mind going for wrong procedure even at risk of patients life. The doctors are arrogant, when I had asked why regular stent was put and not dis-solvable/soluble, he smirked and said "even I cannot afford one". So, they do financial profiling of patient and without explaining the family go for procedures which profits them most.
Sadly, my dad is not recovering well and we have to go for bypass in coming weeks thereby putting his body under further stress.
The hospital will not shutdown and even patients will not stop going there on this review but the management should look at how ethically they are operating and if the doctors are intentionally indulging in such practices because it may be possible, that doctors are receiving favors from the suppliers of stents.
