An True Adevnture - POW in Russia

Dear All,

This is an German Movie ’’So weit die Füße tragen ’’ with english title as ( As Fasr as my feet will Carry Me ). THis is a movie in the times of WW II . It is based on a true story of a German prisoner of war captured by the Russians. The hero’s ( Bernhard Bettermann) acting is just superb. A German POW ( WWII) named Clemens Forell is sentenced by the soviets to 25 yrs improsonement rather forced labour in inside siberia ( Cape Deshnev ) Many dies on the way to the Prison itself due to the extreme weather and the un hygenic way of them being transported. At the Camp he along with the others are supposed to work in lead mine poisonng them due to the high toxic based work The place is so unhabitable that there are no baricades or walls to stop them escape as it is a desert full of ice and nobody can survive outside. A german doctor at the camp helps clemmens to flee...Actually he had prepared the plan/supplies for him to flee but since he found that he suffered from cancer due to the poisoning , he helps an fellow german. There starts the journey Clemens trip to home from Siberia to Germany - more than 14.000 kilometers on his own very feet! , with varied encounters on the way ..he finally arrives in his little home town and reunites with his wife and children. What is nice in this movie is the fact, that you realise, that not Forell, or the Russian people, have any hate against each other - its government, who made all this - the tyranny of the leaders. This is a must See for all.... read the book by Josef Martin Bauer: ’’As Far As my Feet Will Carry Me’’ . ( I hvnt read the book though) Happy watching !! Thansk & Regdz, Muffadal Abbas Rassiwala
