Introduction:

Asambhav is Rajiv Rai?s next movie after the super duper flop multi-starrer Pyaar Ushq Aur Mohabbat. This time although Rajiv has stuck to I would say his favorite subject Action movie. There is action alrite in the movie and the star cast is good as well. So what made me go and watch Asambhav?? Well the obvious answer is First of all it is a Rajiv Rai movie, Secondly we had hints that it some kind of action packed drama with Arjun doin all types of action stuff and lastly after a long time we get to see Naseeruddin Shah in a negative role. But alas the movie was not at all what I had expected. In other words the movie is ?Watchless?. Indeed the title clearly specifies ?Its Asambhav to watch the movie?. Anyways let?s get on with the story now.

The Story/Plot:

Please pardon me becoz I wouldn?t be able to write some of the original names of the artistes in the movie as I couldn?t really remember them

O.K?the film starts with Arjun Rampal showing his biceps, flexing his muscles and in the background we have the song ?Main Sada Hoon? going on. As soon as the name plates get over we have ?Indian Embassy in Switzerland? and Mr.Saini (Sharat Saxena) who is the Ambassador there. Under him work Panditji(Guran of Lagaan), Ranjit Parmar(Yashpal Sharma), Miss Brar and a couple of more colleagues.

The President of India Mr.Pratap Singh (Mohan Agashe) and his daughter Kinjal (Dippanita Sharma) are there on a holiday. Then the entry of the villains (as shown in the movie) starts. Countdown begins with the first villain being shown as Major Ansari (Milind Gunaji) who is a general of Pakistan an Afghan Leader Yuzan (Mukesh Rishi) and his team of about 10-11 players and an international terrorist Rafique Mabros (Shawar Khan). All of these deadly gangsters (as seemed by their looks..) are in for a dangerous conspiracy. They kidnap Mr. President at an isolated island along with his daughter w/o telling anybody.

Now we have the introduction of the Indian James Bond Caption Aadit Arya (Arjun Rampal) who is a secret agent of Army Task force and who secretly comes to know about this thing and hence he alone is secretly sent to Switzerland for investigation. Now that?s what I call Indian Tom Cruise. There he meets a local guy working for intelligence Bhatnagar (Jameel Khan) who is yet unaware of the true identity of Arjun.

Oh yes I forgot about the female lead Priyanka Chopra Alisha who is a Club Dancer and singer in the movie. Her boss Arif Zakaria signs her for a contract in Switzerland for doing shows in a club owned by Sam Hans. Now Arif Zakaria too is involved in illegal drug dealings along with Sam.

So we have the introduction of Sam (Naseeruddin Shah) who has an entry similar to a Bad man in a Hollywood movie. Now Sam, unaware of the conspiracy the Pakis and the Afghanis and ISI?s(as we r shown in the movie) starts drug dealings with them. But the villains also have some problems with Sam and so we have the peace treaty Brian (Tom Alter) who always keeps steady relations between Sam and the Gangsters.

And by this time our hero along with Bhatnagar starts investigating the whole matter. Some murders and some clues lead Aadit that the person behind this conspiracy of the kidnapping of is Sam. But Sam is not at all aware of this conspiracy. This is the first half of the movie.

The second half deals with who all r involved from the Indian Embassy in the conspiracy and how all the gangsters are being abashed single-handedly by our Hero..oh no?there is Kinjal and Alisha to help him too. He gets kidnapped by the baddies but still manages to single-handedly to rescue himself as well the President with a little help from Sam.

The second half is not totally revealed by me becoz of the option Plot Somewhat revealed

Performances:

Arjun Rampal: Well he looks awesome in the movie. And scores well in acting and dancing too. Had the story been better this would have been a solo hit for Arjun. But we still don?t know what is going to be the fate of this flick at the box-office. Anyway Rampal has done well with his toned body girls are sure to drool over him in the movie although he doesn?t have much scope to perform.

Priyanka Chopra:Don?t expect anything from Priyanka except some short clothes. She is just too dance and add glamour to the movie and she doesn?t even manage to do that. She has no grace in her dancing and her acting seems quite artificial.

Naseeruddin Shah: Is the heart of the movie as I would say. His expressions, dialogue delivery everything is gr8 to watch. With his hair golden coloured he reminds me the same Naseer I watched in Mohra and Bombay Boys. As with Naseer u don?t have to say anything about his acting its ought to be good. But only performances don?t make a movie tick at the B.O. there needs to be a definite story and this one is the same old formula which didn?t made me tick at all.

Other appearances by Milind Gunaji, Mukesh Rishi, Shawar Khan, Sharat Saxena, Yashpal Sharma, Dippanita Sharma are tolerable. Oh..there is Anupama Verma in the movie as well who is the lover of Shawar Khan. I still didn?t manage to find out what was she doing in the movie? There is Jameel Khan to speak some comic dialogues and he does just fine.

Music:Music by Viju Shah is good. I have written a rvu on the soundtrack of Asambhav so do check it out. But what surely disappointed me was the background music. The background score comprises of pieces of different songs in the movie album so I would say neither Viju nor Rajiv has bothered to give a different background score. While the background score of Gupt was awesome (remember the screaming sound when the killer appeared) here we have the same songs in the movie album as the background score. Songs come and go and don?t blend with the pace of the movie. The song Mashuqa Rubi is not at all required in the movie.

Conclusion: Well don?t expect anything from the movie in my opinion. The action is ok and Arjun scores in that but the story is miserable. Also in many scenes we have upto five different frames in a single screen which makes it very difficult to watch. If you want a tour of Switzerland with some exotic locations you wont be disappointed?else?.???
