A Gulshan Rai, Rajiv Rai film is always eagarly looked forward to. when Gulshan rai left the production to his only son, rajiv, Trimurti films banner was on all time high with successes such as Yudh, Tridev, Vishwatma, Mohra and Gupt. After the failure of pyaar ishq aur mohabbat, which is the first flop from rajiv, he got back to his favourite genere, action thrillers. But unfortunately the film is not half as exciting as his earlier movies.
To start with the movie is not only ill timed, but it has no substance to offer. To rajivs credit this film is one of the slickest films to hit the indian screens in the recent times.
The film is set in locarno, where the president of India(mohan Agashe) and his daughter(Deepanita sharma) is kidnapped by international terrorist, Mabros(Shawar Ali). The brains behind this kidnapping conspiracy are ISI officials Ansari(milind gunaji), Gazi(Tej Sapru) and international terrorist group led by Yuzan Baksh(Mukesh Rishi). Captain Adit Arya(Arjun Rampal) is given this responsibility of bringing president of India and his daughter back safely. This mission is called ASAMBHAV.
The initial reels of asambhav keep you on edge. Ther are very good sequences with breathtaking backgound music, even the story unfolds at a brisk pace involving viewer completely in the proceedings. But unfortunately what could have been exhilarating flick loses focus soon after good start. The biggest drawback of Asambhav is too many characters are forced into screenplay and inorder to make justice to each character the script staets going haywire.
Director Rajiv Rai is not in form this time around and this is his weakest film till date. Music by his lucky talisman, Viju shah is also below average as compared to his previous musical blockbusters like OYE OYE(Tridev) and TU CHEEZ BADI HAI MAST(Mohra).
