Thanks Asian Hospital

Hello people, this is Deepak. I want to tell you my story about struggling with cancer. Cancer is a horrible disease, at the same time it also makes you care about things you didn’t before - like the food you eat, managing stress, and caring about people who care about you. Treated with medical expertise, like I was at Asian Hospital, it’s really nothing but a battle which demands tenacity.

It was my last year of B.Tech, I was in Gurgaon. For some time, I’ve been having this weird headache which just didn’t seem to go away anytime. It was just there all the times. I took many over the counter drugs in hope to get rid of it. But to no avail. For the first year, I kept ignoring it thinking it was just a migraine.

One day I was sitting in the canteen having lunch and suddenly I experienced a burst of sensation inside my brain. I was not able to move and it was all dark before my eyes. Later, my friends told me that I was unconscious for 2 hours. I was fed up of all this and decided to go for medical checkups. One of my friends suggested me to go to Asian Institute of Medical Sciences.

Since it was almost the end of my 5th semester, so I decided to stay till I am done with my exams. I went to a local physician and described my condition. He said it was just weakness and gave me some medications. Nothing worked. I was on the brink of being hopeless and left in the middle of my exams. To be true, I was afraid.

I got admitted at Asian and was run through several medical tests. By the evening, my whole family was there. Reports came out next morning. It was a tumor. My eyes were filled with tears. After a few minutes, Dr. Praveen Bansal came to me and described everything to me. He and two other oncologists had a meeting in the room next to me. A surgery was planned for me, followed by some sessions of radiotherapy.

Dr. Praveen said something to me before I was being anesthetized, which I only remember vaguely - "Just keep the fight on, leave the rest to us." That was the day and today I am cancer free. My tumor was removed, I was put on chemo and radio for some time. Before leaving hospital Dr. Rohit told me everything from the diet I should follow, to managing stress and regular exercise.

People say that Asian is the best hospital for cancer treatment in north India. I will also tell you the same. I am grateful that I made the decision to have treatment in Asian. And on my every birthday I thank that friend of mine who suggested me to go to Asian.

Thanks.

Deepak.
