I have been an Asianet broadband customer for more than a year. I have a 4 Mbps connection which is the maximum available speed in my area(outskirts of Calicut, Kerala). Outages are frequent - perhaps 3 times a week or so. Trying to call customer support during that time never worked as I invariably got a busy tone. I have had to speak with the customer support more than 12 times over several weeks to get a static IP address!
I often work from home via a VPN connection to my office network. I use an Airtel 3G device and a Tata Photon plus as back-ups as Asianet is not very reliable. That worked out well so far, except that I sometimes got disconnected in between calls when using my VOIP phone(which uses the Asianet broadband).
Asianet broadband is still much better than BSNL in every way though! I wish we had a 3rd service provider in my locality - perhaps Airtel.
