Biggest icon of Indian history comes alive on screen. Directed by award winning director Santosh Sivan and Produced by Shahrukh khan/Juhi Chawla. Shahrukh khan gives flesh and blood to asoka and brings him on screen. Kareena Kapoor plays the beautiful princess kaurwaki.
If you are an Indian then I don’t need to say the story of the film. Anyways I will say it in very short form. Asoka was a king who after killing millions of people, realized that, what he was doing is wrong. Later he converted himself to Buddhism, and began to serve mankind leaving his kingdom.
Did ASOKA stand to all the hype it was surrounded with? The answer is yes and little no. The biggest drawback was the music, which did not gel with the movie. Of course the music was pleasing, but it did not suit to its times. But the background score was of top-class.
Speaking on technical front, the most technically sound film made in India. Especially the battle scenes, which were near the standards of Hollywood.
Performance wise every actor in the movie was at his best. Shahrukh khan and kareena kapoor were brilliant as king and princess. This movie can be rated as shahrukh’s and kareena’s best movie on the grounds of acting.
A special mention should be given to the complete crew of ‘roshni se’ song. This song had everything from music, lyrics, choreography, camera and special effects.
ASOKA could have been better if it did not have any songs.
Watch ASOKA at any cost.
Caution: Don’t try too hard on reality and history.
