A shock.

When the movie was just going to come out there was this real hype about it, that it will be this and it will be that. they have spent so much money on making the movie and you have to see the sets etc.

but I dint expect what I saw. thay had totally distorted te story. the story I have heard of asoka the great is that his sister was in love with the prince of kalinga and after the war of kalinga, asoka captured the prince and asked him to ask for forgiveness and become his slave. but the prince disagreed and so asoka decided to slay him before sun rise. and then his sister told him and also one bodha named vith asoka that all he was going to get in return of all this killing was blood and unhappiness all his life and he would never be happy by taking some one else’s land like that.

after this he went to the battlefield to see it which is where he got transformed because he saw the bloodshed and widows and children crying over the dead bodies.

but when I saw the movie the whole story has a new twist. there was this kalinga princess and he was in loe with her and stuff like that. just to get commercial value for the film they changed the history in the way they wanted it. I think that was wrong.

the setting were good and I really liked the cinematography by santosh sivan. the cast was very nice and I dont think anybody else would have been able to do more justice to the role.

well I was glued to the movie for a lot of while but there were some scenes which were quite boring. some scenes were a little too gory to be shown to a family audience.

so all in all it was an ok ok movie and not something the way it was hyped about.
