The film based on a very popular game with the same name jad garnered a lot of expectations from the games fans including me. But it came as a suprise of how bad a movie plot with such potential can be directed. The director Justin Kurzel has done a very poor job in directing this game based movie.
Story of the movie: Aguilar( Michael Fassbender) is the newest member of the brotherhood of the assassins, a secret order of assasins who have opposed the templars for centuries. His ring finger is cutoff by one of the assasins to make way for the hidden blade. He along with others is given a mission to protect the prince of Granada.
In 1986 Callum Lynch retuns home to find his mother dead, murdered by his own father who is a member of the assassin’s creed order. He orders Callum to run away and hide just as the gunmen of templar arrive outide their house. There he realises their motives of finding the genetic code for free will in apple of eden.
Flashback the king of Granada gives up the apple of eden to the templars as a ransom for his son.
Callum meets his father in the facility and despite his father’s warnings he enters the animus. Flashback to the spanish inquisition Aguilar is tied to a pillar to be executed but he escapes and frees his friend. The Animus breaks down due to immense force exerted on it . Meanwhile a riot breaks out between the prisoners in the facility and the guards. By this time the templars have already found out the loacation of the apple of eden. Callum and a few others escape from the facility. Meanwhile the templars have already retrieved the apple of eden. Callum and a few others enter the building where the apple was being presented. The apple is retrieved by Callum and the others.
As usual Michael Fassbender has given a terrific performance despite the film’s direction being so pathetic. The costumes look really cool and very realistic. There are some great action scenes. My favourite one being the one where Aguilar jumps off the bridge into the water. That is probably the best scene in the movie.
The action though could have been better if they used some moves as in the game. The biggest bummer being some signature moves of Aguilar being left out in the movie.
The background movie is great. Though some scenes seem disconnected with the track. The action scenes are very captivating with the background track.
All in all it is must watch for all the Assassin’s Creed fans and only a one time watch for the rest and that too if you are into such genre.
