I must confess that I am an ardent reader of John Grisham and his books and although I read many authors, he is one of my favourites.
His books have never failed to deliver in terms of what I have expected, which is knowldege, some new angle on law and its cases, and a subtle but pronounced climax.
I picked upThe Associate day before yesterday in Crossword. I completed it yesterday.
Yes, for the first time I was dissappointed. Then this review thing came up and I was like this is the apt titile. Can you judge a book by its author? For someone who has always made me feel content about reading his books, this sure made me think.
The book has a unique angle, but that is not enough. The plot and its development has to be solid and this time around I felt as if John Grisham ran out of time or interest.I rarely put down a John Grisham from the time I start reading until Im done. This time I took the longest breaks. His books are usually a pageturner, this time I turned it because I was hoping for a miracle to change my opinion.
It is an okay read, not the best and that is not enough for me, because I do like John Grisham very much and he has put my expectations from him at a very high pedestal. If his book even comes down a notch, I notice and so will anyone else who likes his kind of books.
