Asterix and the Magic Carpet

Asterix and the Magic Carpet by Albert Uderzo

Book 26

Read on: March. 30th, 2010

Asterix comics are one of my favourite comic books ever since my childhood.

The bold Asterix, the strong Obelix, the wisdom n magic of getafix and many other characters from the Gauls just make a lovely read.

The comic pages are rich n glossy n the illustrations really nicely done.

This story is about a saint from India coming down to the Gauls, to seek help. The problem was, there was drought in his part of India. The villain, who wanted to be the ruler, proposed that God of Rain is angry and so King’s daughter’s sacrifice is needed. But the saint and the King ask for a little time so they can try to reach till Gauls whose musician brought rain from his singing.

The whole story is mainly about the travel from Gauls which is in Western Europe to India on the magic carpet of the saint and how with lot of fun, adventure and problems they reach the kingdom only to find the musicians’ voice was lost due to exertion. But towards the end, with the help of Asterix and friends everything is sorted out and King remains on throne, his daughter isn’t killed and the evil relative runs away. The other major part of the comic in general is… the foodie Obelix, the tiny dog dogmatic, the magic potion, etc.

It’s a must read for every person on planet earth and I can assure… no one can read JUST ONE. ;)
