Astitva is a story that plays itself in many Indian households.It may not happen in yours or mine(touchwood!!), yet most of us have seen it happening- either between our parents, with relatives, or in our friends house.Well I’m not talking of physical infidelity here, but of the emotional abuse that is, in most cases, unknowingly perpetrated in most homes.
There are no fancy cinematographic tricks, the tale is simply told with careful aid of flashbacks.The subject is serious and the treatment is excellent.Excellent movie with correct balance of drama and sensitivity.The songs fit into the movie almost well and are very melodious.Most of the numbers-’’chal chal mere sang’’, main thi main hoon’’and so on are my favourite.Another powerful movie by Mahesh Manjrekar, thereby proving his versatility as a director.
Most women and I think many men will identify with what they see on the screen when they watch this film.What I liked best about the movie is the tight and explosive screenplay with some nerve hitting bold dialogues!!.Extra marital affair is shown, as a result odd circumstances and will(i hope so) make those couples sit up and think who are too busy to think about small happinesses in life.
Well I only hope that they learn a lesson from this movie!!And their married life has a different ending from ’Astitva’.
The ending tho. painful was very touching!!
’Astitva’has focussed on too many painful truths.It is realism portrayed very boldly to the audience.
It honestly made me think ’’IS A WOMENS DESTINY ....A MAN???’’
But, as a movie, Astitva is a film u simply can’t afford to miss.This film comes as a fresh breath of air in nowadays action movies.
