Astrology: Myth or science
Man has been fascinated by stars, space and destiny alike. The reason is simple…they all resemble or exemplify call from the unknown. The desire to decipher the hidden…the desire to explore the unexplored… drives mankind to evolve, both scientifically and aesthetically. However, as we have seen so far and as our coming generations will see, they both converge ultimately.
Our ancestors too had the same urge…but they didn’t have telescopes or advanced scientific instruments to explore and analyze. However, they chose a medium that’s far superior to material means, the mind.
Please note that all that I have written is simply my own interpretation and understanding, and I haven’t read or been told about it. My basic understanding is that everything that you see around or feel is scientific and can be explained mathematically.
Let me first explore and question the origins of this science. I searched the Net, asked the gurus, but none had a satisfactory answer. It seems that the origins emanate from the will and the desire to explore the relationship between the Cosmos and the human life. It starts from the time a egg is formed in the female, comes alive when the child is born and gets exposed to the Cosmic Ray bombardment from the Universe and carries on till his death.
Science has confirmed that everyone in the universe is exposed to constant bombardment from the Universe, possible sources being nursery of stars, and the rays that are still traveling since the Epoch, or the Big Bang. Everything that lies between the source of Cosmic storm and the target where they are finally absorbed affects these rays in one way or the other, and I see Astrology as a mathematical tool that aims at establishing a relationship between the two.
Our ancestors must have taken it upon them to observe the life span of a sample of population over hundreds or even thousands of years, taking detailed notes of relative positions of stars, planets and constellation at the time of birth , during the lifetime and death, and the turn of events that happened. All of this huge database would then have been analyzed and scrutinized.
What we see now as a 12 house chart, is the result of hard work of generations of our ancestors and the sum total of ancient knowledge and experience. The kundli then becomes a highly scientific mathematical tool for establishing a relationship between the Cosmos and the mankind, or for that matter anything. The chart is a way to look into probable events in individual lifespan, predicting events that might happen. It is entirely based on the supposition that a particular planet or star would follow a previously documented and noted down path, and takes into account thousandth of a second. The accuracy with which these movements can be predicted, directly decides the accuracy of the prediction. However, any unforeseen cosmic event, such as a comet that has the capability to change the course of movement of stars and planets, (yes my friend, stars too move; for that matter, our galaxy is traveling thousands of miles per second!) disturbs this movement and hence the prediction.
The astrologer simply prepares the Kundli by filling in the numbers in the mathematical box, called the kundli. The database of the astrologer is then looked up to, and the planetary positions as indicated by the Kundli are then matched up to predict any event in ur life. Remember, all this is possible because someone has already lived up your life before, having the same Kundli combination. That past experience is used to predict what would happen in your lifespan; however your own Karmic cycle can very well change that.
