I had the first-generation Nexus 7, but managed to break it.
This second-gen version is a couple of years old now, but my tablet needs are fairly basic - mainly checking email, reading ebooks, Skyping, YouTube, music, and keeping up with the news. I also didnt want anything bigger than 7 or 8 inches.
This Nexus is noticeably faster in just about every respect than the previous version, the screen is fantastic, and the size is just right. I cant comment on its gaming performance, but it does everything that I need. Video, images, and ebook text all look great.
The volume through earphones is too low for my liking(just like the previous version of the Nexus), but a free app allowed me to increase it a bit without noticeable distortion.
If you want to take a lot of pictures with your tablet, this might not be the device for you. The camera is OK, but not great. But thats not an issue for me, as I take my pictures using a proper digital SLR anyway. It doesnt have a huge amount of storage, but Im rarely far from a wireless connection anyway. Battery life and power management seems to work better than on the previous version.
I really have no complaints. Its exactly what I was looking for, and far cheaper than the latest, larger tablets on the market.
