Audiograbber is such a software. It is a cd ripper and mp3 converter rolled into one. Audiograbber is not complicated to use at all.
Insert an audio Cd select a track and click on grab. Then click on the MP3 button to convert it to MP3.Easy! There is only one difference between the free and the full version. The free version has been limited to only handle half of the tracks and those tracks are selected randomly at program startup. By restarting the program the checkboxes will be in front of other tracks. So you could basically rip all the tracks by just restarting the program! There is a normalize option to cut down peak volumes during ripping. The amount of options available is amazing. You can control all possible aspects of ripping process. You can also convert existing wav files to MP3. Audiograbber also allows you to cut off silence that exists in a source track.
If your cdrom is old and cannot read digital music there is an option of analog recording (through the sound card) with slight degradation in quality. You can play the file in the software itself so that you can preview the track before you rip it. Filenames can be automatically created from artist name, track name, album name or track number. During test a 6.5 min track was ripped to a wav file (69.08 MB) in 25 seconds and converted to mp3 (2.72 MB , 56kbps 22050 Hz file) in 60 seconds on a Pentium 4 1.5 Ghz system with 128MB RAM. You can even choose to have the program automatically shutdown the system after ripping The software comes with multiple language support.
The help is more than sufficient and you can find help and info on all aspects of the program. No complaints whatsoever over this one. Excellent job Jackie.
