Better the second time around

I went to see this film with my Dad and a friend when it first came out, now me and my dad have a similar sense of humour but my friend and me generally have differing opinions when it comes to films, but for once we both agreed that this film was great!

I saw the first Austin Powers film (when it came out on sky) and I’d have to say that I thought the second one was definitely more funny, I’m not exactly sure why but maybe theres more gags crammed into this fantastic piece of film making.

Ok a basic summary of the plot (very basic!).

Austin’s mojo (his sex appeal) is stolen by Dr Evil in a dastardly plot, and so both Austin himself and his beautiful side kick Felicity shagwell set out to find Austin’s mojo and restore him to his former glory.

Although nearly everyone that’s seen this film seems to love it their are some people who just don’t get the appeal of the film.

The comedy within the film is, in general your basic toilet humour, with nothing that takes too much thought but I think that’s part of the appeal of this film, its full of easy laughs. This means that all levels and classes of people can enjoy the humour.

The acting is great with Mike Myers as both the laugh a minute charismatic Austin Powers and stupid yet ’evil’ Doctor Evil and the odd fantastic cameo role. Heather although not contributing too much to the comedy is great as felicity shagwell, and I love Seth Greens performance as Dr Evil’s son Scott.

Characters such as Fat Basterd are unique and highly comical, you’ve really never seen anything like it in other films.

What can I say a modern day classic designed for you to have a relaxed hour and a half or two hours (however long it is) and having you laughing out loud for a large chunk of the time, its simply a real laugh.

The only disadvantage I’d give is that the film is not suitable for children due to the amount of sexual innuendo.

All that’s left for me to say is just see it for yourself.
