I’ve been reading reviews on mouthshut for a while now but I never found anything that I thought was good enough to write a review about before. I guess, I’m just a choosy kinda guy ;-)
After reading a lot of reviews for beer trying to find a strong beer that is actually enjoyable to drink - I came across a review of Australian Max by Arunsfo and a couple of others. Everyone seemed to agree that Max is a five star beer - which is unusual for a strong beer since they all taste bitter and bad. So I thought I would give it a try.
I went to the beer shop in south extn. in Delhi and asked for Australian Max. The manager said they didn’t have any Max and made me to buy some Haywards 5000 instead. The next morning I cursed him - because I had a pounding headache and felt really sick (not unusual with Haywards 5000). Everytime I try Haywards 5000 it just tastes more bitter and lower quality.
After I found out Australian Max wasn’t available in Delhi, I asked some friends if they had tried Max? Most didn’t know about it - but Rajesh who lives in Noida said it was selling there and he and all his friends love it. He promised to bring me a few bottles for a party at the weekend. So at the weekend there are five of us at my place with quite a few different strong beers and we decided to do a blind taste test.
I poured each beer into glasses in the kitchen and brought just the glasses back for us all to try. No one knew which beer was which and we all gave marks out of 10 for each beer. We all had a good time getting drunk and everyone wanted to find out which beer came out with top marks. Sure enough it was Australian Max with 46 out of 50, next was Meakin 10, 000 with 33 out of 50. Kingfisher strong got just 26 and Haywards 5000 scored lowest with 19. So thanks to arunsfo and others for helping me find my favourite strong beer. Max is creamy and delicious and it gets me high fast. And the best thing is no matter how much I drink, I wake up fresh in the morning - no headaches.
I just read in the paper that Australian Max has won the title of The World’s Best Strong Beer!!!
It’s GREAT to hear that a beer brewed in India is considered the WORLD"S BEST by the experts!!!
It is the only food or drink product from India to be crowned as the World’s Best in it’s field - Congrat’s to the quality focused people at International Breweries!!!
