Desperately I was looking for the appropriate heading or page to post the rvu , clicked almost all the categories in education but failed to get the same title , so (ab yahan hi likh rahi hoon)while going through an accountancy magazine I read an article by Alan Sangster and Frankwood in which both of the personalities highlighted the tips for cat prparation , the article was based on more than 17 pages n it was very difficult to read it completely, I took more than 3 days to read it line to line, so for all my friends im posting a summary , including my personal opinions , i hope it will be helpful for you all preparing to give cat cbes.
In Any particular paper , at the start of each chapter, read the learning objectives, then while , you work through the material , try to detect when you have achieved each of that objective. After reading the whole chapter check what you have learnt against the learning out comes. IF you find that you cannot say yes, ihave learnt that , to nay of the learning out comes, look back through the chapter and re read the chapter or topic you have not yet learnd.
Learn the meaning of each new term as it apperas do not leave learning what term mean until you are revising for an exam.ALLAN SANGSTER says ; accounting is best learnt as a series of building blocks , if you dont remember what term mean, your knowledge and ability to do accounting will be very seriously undermind in much the same way as the wall built with mortar is likely to collpse the first time someone leans against it.
Then attempt all the excercise or the activities in the book at the point at which they appear, this is very important, , they will reinforce you learning and help set in context some of the material that may otherwise appear very artificial and distant from the world you live in.
Attempt the sets of multiple choice questions when you reach in the book do not look at the answers before solving the answers once you have answered now check your answer against the provided answers at the last of the book.
If you get any of the mcq wrong , be sure you understand why, before moving on to the next material. solve rvu question at the end of the chapter to gauge how well you understand and can apply with what you have learnt. ALLAN AGAIN SAYS if you simply read the text without attempting the the questions I will tell you that you will not pass your examinations. evenn though you may think that you understand the text , when you come to answer the questions , you may often find yor understanding incomplete the true test of understanding is weater or not you can tackle the questions competently. it is odten said that pracitce make a man perfect , a sentiment we dont fully agree with.there is however enough sense in it in that, if you dont do quite a lot of acconting questions, you will almost certainly not become good at accounting. you simply have to get a good speed in answering, you will always fail the accounting examination if you are a slow worker. Now FRANWOOD says: the history of accounting examination so far has always been that a ridiculously large amount of work has been expected from the student, during a short time, however examining boards maintained that the examination could be completed in the time by an adaquately prepared student.you can take it for granted that adaquately prepared students are those who not only have the konwledge, but have also been trained to work quicklyand at thew same time main tain accuracy and neatness. apprpriate presentation of the information is very important.learn how to present the various fainancial statments , you may need to produce in anyt of the accounting paper(not the cat exclusively) ALLAN SAYS The examiner expect to see the in trading n profit and loss accounts , balance sheets and cashflow statmments, in correct order and probably be deduct marks if you dont do this. or han shayad main kuch bhool rahi hoon examiner taste , yes , FRANKWOOD SAYS what you should say to your self is , suppose I was incharge od an office, doing this type of accounting work, what would I say if one of my assistant put on my desk a sheet of paper with accounting entries on it in the same manner as my own efforts in attempting this question?................ CONCLUSION I can imagine quite few of you groaning at all this, and if you do not want to pass the examination please give upo reading here, if you do want to pass n yr work is un tidy what can the examiner do about it?????????????well the answer is simple enough, start right now to be neat and orderly in your work, ALLAN Quite a lot of students have said to me that i may be giving the untidy work , but when I actually get into the exam room, I will then do my work neatly, this is near impossible as anything can be .you cannot suddenly become efficient and certainly when you are undre the stress of eaxm . ........................................................have I convinced you yet? Comments are wellcomed.
