Raj Kapoor-The Greatest Showman on earth.after this film I agree with that.i always knew the man was an excellent actor but after this film it has been proven.not only has RK brought out an excellent performance in himself, but also from his father Prithviraj and actress Nargis.
Story:
Raju lives as a derelict as a result of being estranged from his bitter father, a district judge, whom threw Rajus mother out of the household years before. Raju shacks up with a dacoit (pickpocket bandit) as his surrogate father only to realize that the man is actually responsible for the original misunderstanding for having his mother thrown out. Raju kills him, and then tries killing his father, but fails, is arrested, and is taken to court right before his very own father court where Raju has his childhood girlfriend as his legal representative, and his father must pass judgment without involving any personal sentiment.
Performances:
Nargis carries off her role well.not only does she suit the character but she brings so much life into it.the way she acted, the way she gave dialogue.just everything about her performance was excellent
Prithviraj Kapoor did excellent in his role.ive never seen him when he was younger so this film was nice to see a young Prithviraj.
Raj Kapoor is definately a scene stealer in every scene.the man is pure genius.all you have to do is see the song Awaara Hoon, and just see his performance there.the man can do the dance and act at the same time.and just by that you can tell how his performance was during the movie.also hes hilarious in that scene when he steals Nargiss purse and beats himself up when he goes over the wall.one of my favorite scenes.
the lady that played his mom did an excellent job.
Music by Shankar Jaikishan was excellent.one of their best scores ever.of course the pick of the lot is Awaara Hoon.its my new favorite song.
Direction by Raj Kapoor is top notch.this may be one of his best directed films ever.
all in all Awaara is an excellent film with a message.wouldnt mind seeing this film in color someday.
