Went to see Azhar yesterday, my expectations were really high as I am a big cricket fan and I was very interested to know about the life of one of the most controversial but highly successful player and captain of Indian cricket, I have to say the movie was watchable but it left a lot to be desired, it shines in many aspects but it falls flat im many other aspects as well, Emraan Hashmi is the silver lining of this flick.
He has single handedly carried this thin script and elevated it to a watchable status, he has given his career best performance, he is splendid in so many ways in this movie, be it mannerisms, expressions, overall aura he looked so similar to the real azhar, it is a huge victory for him, but apart from him almost everything else in the movie looks misplaced and bad casting of other cricket characters add fuel to fire, poor CGI effects make cricket matches to look unreal on screen, gautam gulati is top notch as ravi shashtri but other casting of cricketer characters were a bit disappointing, nargis did her part well as well as prachi too.
But its the script which falls flat here, direction in second half, in particular, is very lame, first half was good but second half ruins it all, its an average movie despite a spectacular performance of Hashmi, watch it for emraan, otherwise you can give it a miss
