*Baa, Bahoo aur Baby
Fri - Sun at 9.30 pm on Star Plus
*I still remember when Star Plus started showing promos of this serial, the Ekta Kapoor serials were already on air. And I thought to myselfyet another mind numbing silly serial from Star. I even missed the first few episodes thinking it would not worth my time. But I was wrong. and HOW!
The serials biggest USP is that it potrays sound family values subtly while at the same time not losing its main focus of entertaining people. While watching the show you will laugh and maybe shed a tear with the characters. After it ends, you think about its subtler messages: about the virtues and pitfalls of staying in a joint family, about the diversity in a big family but the need to remain united etc. In todays age where many children are glued to TV and growing up in nuclear families, I would actually urge their mothers to make them watch this serial. Frankly it is not just children, even a grown up person like me can learn so much.
Those who watch the serial would agree that its producer / director have not relied on just the USP of family values to make it a success. Each character on the show is well etched and different from the other. You have an ideal son as Mota bhai who worships his mother and cares for his brothers and wider family. At the same time, there is a younger son Pravin who is shown as self centered and one to make a quick buck off his family members. Then there is a completely different son - Gattu - who is a gifted child, not normal.
Aside from the characters, even the daily situations and stories are taken from real life. So you have the entire family grappling with Saumils cancer, the bahoos and daughter of the house competing for a local beauty contest, everyone assisting Hemal so he can marry the girl of his choice(not in line with Baas) and even a rift that almost tore the family apart with Baa looking on helplessly.
I can go on and on about why you should watch this serial but frankly its for you to watch and judge. If you havent been seeing it already, I would recommend you watch it for at least 2 weekends(i.e. 6 episodes) before you make up your mind.
Happy viewing!
