Baba Kalyani is a film which the world would have been better off if not made.You just feel like the director just got up one fine day and was getting bored.nothing to do.so he decided to bore the audience with his latest offering!Shaji Kailas makes your head spin, not with any gripping screenplay or actions, but with his camera.which captures mohanlal and his car from all sides possible.
Mohanlal is Baba kalyani who loves his mother and puts her name beside him.He has his owm ways of investigation which relies heavily on instincts, and smart work, rather than using abusive language and brute force to get things done.He is transferred to Kochi to tackle terrorism and how he does forms the rest of the story(if at all it has one.)
A special mention needs to be made about his dialougues with a DIG(Venu Nagavalli.who is shaped like a pig, but still is a police officer!)They converse in English(for reasons known only to the director)and conclude that Kochi is Hot(not before saying that a hundred times!)It is a must watch comedy scene of the movie.
As for the performances.Mohanlal is the center of attraction in the film.The film is made to look that way.and mohanlal, would you please stop this COLLBORATIONof yours with this shaji kailas who I think had failed in english in school and is on a revenge mode with injecting unwanted Engilsh dialougues that makes the viewers go through a spectrum of emotions ranging from disbelief.irritation.anger.agony and then to the mad man laughter.
A special mention must also be made of the camera work or rather overwork, by I dont know who.may be the next time they make a rajnikanth movie.they can refer to baba kalyani.(especially for the introduction scene of mohanlal)

Apart from that one scene that I mentioned above, there are other "classics"
*A scene where mohanlal and team comes up to palani.and lie to the tamil police that they are doctors.(i dont why!)finally when caught, they confess they are frm police force.
*biju menon doing an interrogation in hindi!hahahahaha
*earlier in the movie, mohanlal slaps an officer, who kills a suspect, and asks him why didnt he shoot him in his leg.in a scene the "intelligent" mohanlal shoots a handful of terrorists and kills them.sanity lost!
