Quite a let down considering the hype

This is my first review ever on any product motivated by the sheer disappointment of sitting through close to 3 hours of "Babel". The movie started off with an interesting note providing the audience expectations of a movie the promises an intricate plot that involves various cultures and dramatic elements. However after the first hour of the movie, all this anxiety was replaced by complete and utter frustration and disappointment.

The storyline was quite clear and straight forward and what definitely killed the movie was the drag. I think if the movie was shot in 90 minutes or so it would have been a more pleasant experience. And some plots were completely unnecessary, for example the whole scene resolving the Japanese girl. I understand her dad had contributed to the entire fiasco by mistakenly gifting his gun to a Moroccan guide, but what I fail to understand is why was the audience put though hours of her desperate attempt to attain sexual relief.

Similarly, details of the Mexican maid’s attempt to attend her son’s marriage were such a drag. On the other hand, the movie was well shot and produced. The acting by all the characters, especially the younger Moroccan child and Brad Pitt was very impressive. The cinematography was also very impressive and the settings were impressive. The movie could have proven to be a master piece if not for the drag and unnecessary scenes.
