I dont like Ansel Elgort, but he has put a good effort in this movie. This movie isuch different from last movie he did, Fault in our stars, but both share same thing- love. The movie is much like Bollywood with all emotions, action scenes and music( although no one is dancing here), at the other hand it is also like typical Hollywood movie like speed, speed 2, etc which has crime, car chase, fights and brains behind the sepoy and falling in love, to save someone.
The movie has an interesting start but lazily drags on, accompanied with inevitable quirky getaway of Baby Dricer from his boss, a kingpin named Doc.
The movie is completely see through, but shot in some great adrenaline pumped action and choreography.
The main protagonist Baby rarely speaks and always listens to music to keep away tunnitus. Doc here is the brain behind unknown heists in which Baby has a constant role of driver because Baby has to pay off debt he owes to Doc, but also Doc likes him. Then he falls in love and wants out but thats when ruckus begins.
Ansel has done complete justification to the character and he is brilliant but feels an odd choice to the character because there are many better actors, example actor from transformers 1, or Alex Roe or Nick Robinson. Lily james is sweet but she is of no importance other than being the love interest of Baby.Kevin spacey is quite flat and is stereotypical in acting. He hardly interesting, which is a shame.
The plot seems like all hit notes clubbed into one which no surprises.
Albeit music is appropriately intertwined into the action, the story is doesnt leave much to applause.Only music punched action brings out the soul attraction of the movie.
Overall Baby Driver is astutely handled film with too common outcomes and too common story, which such a drag.
This movie makes for a fun viewing, but keeping in mind that you get similar movies in India with movies from bombay, tamil nadu and hyderabad, this movie can easily be left out.
The movie according to me, is best enjoyed alone or with your gf in a sunday afternoon with a cool beer in hand, but not in theatres. If you want to watch a movie, watch jugga jasoos with your gf or War for the planet of the apes alone or with friends.
