Bachna Ae Hasseno is a great movie without debate. The concept or story
script is old but the Director has packaged it very well. Songs are
great. Photography is brilliant, scenes / shoot locations are exotic
and inviting particularly Switzerland, Greece and Sydney.
I am
thrilled and happy to report that Bipasha and Kunal Kapoor, even with
their limited roles have managed to fire the screen with their
presence. Bipasha in her Diva avatar is looking hot and gorgeous. I
love her mesmerizing eyes! Kunal as Mahi’s husband in Sardar(turban)
role has given an impressive performance. Thus challenging Akshay
Kumar’s role in – Singh is Kinng.
It is heartening to see that
Ranbir Kapoor(Raj Sharma) has graduated well in his lead role in this
movie vis-à-vis Saawariya. Of course, I still have my reservations for
his looks and receding hairline but sure he has managed to carry the
movie and character very well. Other good find from this movie is ace
comedian’s son XXX Paintel. He is good and promising and could be
exposed for bigger and better role.
Yeah, I know, lot of people
spoke great about Minissha Lambha’s look but I am afraid she failed to
impress me. Her screen presence does not give the desired Heroin / Lead
Actress look. Deepika is indeed looking beautiful and she has delivered
a decent performance. There is a clear chemistry between Ranbir and her
on the silver screen fueling the rumors that they are going around.
Deepika has both looks and talent to gain the top slot in the Bollywood
if she manages to diversify quickly.
So much for actors in
Bachna Ae Hasseno. Coming to the story line and Direction. As I said in
my opening remarks the story concept is not new but the treatment is.
The Director has managed to rope in 3 distinct stories exceedingly well
without losing focus. Raj Sharma remains the center of attraction and
director very smartly re-connects / thread the cast and character dots
to give a feeling of one narration. The movie is balanced and runs fast
without any drag. No scenes look repetitive or boring but adds to the
message. I am sure many of us will debate and criticize some of the
scenes i.e. Mahi falling in love with Raj in Switzerland on an
over-night trip to Zurich on Vespa Scooter.
The film follows the
journey of Raj Sharma from his youth days to the middle aged days. He
meets three girls at different stages of his life: Mahi – a small town
girl from Punjab, Radhika(Bipasha Basu) - a model from Ranchi in
Mumbai and Gayatri(Deepika Padukone) - an NRI taxi driver / B School
student from Australia. The film is about a boy who goes from one love
affair to another, only to run into true love.
Overall I
guessBachna Ae Hasseno is one of the fine movies released recently. I
am happy to rate it 3.75 on 5.00 Stars and would recommend every one to
watch it.
Cheers!
