Rejecting somebody is very difficult and it is always painful to

the person who gets rejected.   Once get rejected, we realize

the pain which we gave to many others when we rejected them outright,

without waiting to listen and understand their side of the story.

Once we understand our mistake what best we can do to save ourselves

and others from the situation?

BACHNA AE HASEENO is a story or love, rejection and repentance.

In Bachna Ae Haseeno Siddarth Anand tells the story of Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) and three girls came to his life at various stages of his life.   1. Mahi (Manisha Lamba),

on his Switzerland visit, whose marriage is fixed but she is still

fancying the DDLJ story and expects her Raj in her life.  2.

Radhika (Bipasha Basu) his neighbour turned room mate who is very practical and quick in her decisions and action.  3. Gayatri (Deepika Padukone), a taxi driver cum supermarket cashier cum Business school student who want to live life in her own terms.

The first half of the movie was excellent.  Beautiful locations,

good music, fine choreography and cinematography with a fast paced

story line kept the audience engaged throughout.   The second

half however took an unconventional turn and paced very slow where the

climax was hurried.    The director failed to manage a

balanced pace throughout.

Ranbir Kapoor
was quite good.   Though his Saawariya was

better we have not much reason to complain where the youngster has

shown all curiosity and acted in confidence.   Manisha Lamba got a good role in the movie and she did the typical role well.  Deepika Padukone

though holds the central character only had little to

perform.   She brilliantly portrayed the confident

independent girl.   The best performance however comes from Bipasha Basu.   If there is somebody to give the right opportunity this actress has the ability to reach new heights.  Kunal Kapoor handled the small role very well.  Hiten Paintal as friend of Raj was good as well.

The plus points of the film:

~Music

~choreography

~cinematography

~Topic for youth

~Good performance

~Good locations

~Good scenes in the first half

The minus?

~The

script is a let down in the second half but in an age of mindless

films, why we are bothered much about logic and brain in love?

They say love is blind and blind people cannot see any

facts.

~Ranbir was too young to play the age gap of 12 years.   Where 2 out of 3 heroines looks older to him.

~Poor

characterization for the leading man and leading lady.  (The first

love of leading man was presented as real though looks like the writer

is still under the impression that the relation was badly damaged with

a small misrepresentation.    The 2nd relation was not

so convincing from the beginning and the repentance was not presented

with sincerity.  The third relation was a quick fix, which

spoiled a potential story line).

~Unconventional approach tried to present unconvincingly.

~Slow pace in the second half.

So, where do we stand now?   The

movie was quite impressive in the first half and was a let down in the

second half.  The first half deserve a 4 out of 5 and the second

half 2 out of 5.  The movie is good for a watch, not for repeated

watching.  For the makers, it is an opportunity lost since it had

all the potential to get into the big league.
