Badrinath shrine is one of the most sacred shrines in hinduism.
Vaishanavas consider it the highest place of worship and other hindu sects treat it equally venerated.
Mind you, it is not an easy journey. Frankly speaking, it is not meant as tourism, but pilgrimage and Lord tests your faith!
It is believed that when he calls you; all obstructions in a sacred journey are removed.
This very pious shrine is situated at very high altitude;so only those who are physically fit may make a journey. Then, one must plan properly before starting on this sacred journey.
One can reach up to Rishikesh, Uttarakhand by road or rail and from then one has to move towards Joshi mutt-the real starting point.
There are a number of buses, taxis available for pilgrims.
Though, there are many lodges and inns(dharmshalas) available;but it always good to reserve a room or two in advance.
From Joshi mutt, pilgrims move towards Badrinath town.
Then have your darshan in a prescribed manner.
It is considered sacrosanct to have a bath taptakund and then have darshan.
Kindly remember as mentioned above; it is a sacred journey and not meant to be a tourist sight seeing- though, you will watch nature in its full bloom!
