When Jai meets Basanti !!

Baghban belongs to the Big B & the dreamgirl Hema Malini who are all set to make our hritiks & karinas run for their money ! They sing, they dance, they cry ( and even make you cry) and they romance. You’ll be surprised with their on screen chemistry even after such a long time span. Here is a family film packed with emotions & scintillating performances by the two legends.

(You’ll find me praising them throughout this review)

Life of the Baghban

It’s a story about a man.. a loving father who spends all his life taking care of his family. He fulfills all their needs to his greatest extent. In other words, he nurtures his bagh and grows its branches so that he can rest under their shadow when he is tired. And when the ripping time come all his beloved sons turn their back to him. They use their parents as a ladder to climb up and after that they don’t have any concern about this ladder.

It’s a story about a father & a mother who make a mistake of depending upon their family. They get separated, just to make their sons happy and when they realize about their mistake, they find themselves nowhere. Their goodwill rescues them from the blues given by their own blood. Regardless of the situation, they maintain a deep love for each other.

The film reflects different shades of the life.

Life unfolds..

Amitabh is an accountant who stays with his wife, Hema and enjoys the little joys of life. His four sons are well settled and the whole family gathers during the festivals. Being a nice person Amitabh maintains nice relations with the neighbors. He has also adopted a small boy, salman khan & treats him like one of his sons. The retirement time come and now this father wants to stay with his sons. But as he doesn’t have any savings left, none of his sons is ready to take his responsibility. At last, sons decide to separate them & agree to keep them for the period of six months each. Suddenly the parents realize that their children are very hardhearted & are least bothered about their presence in the family. And one day they leave their children and reunite to stay together. Their adopted child, salman come from abroad and pays his gratitude.

Now , these parents are happy with this adopted child and they don’t want their real sons back.

Cast n Crew

Amitabh fans will have a great time watching this movie as after a long time they’ll get an opportunity to see this actor in different shades. He makes us laugh, he makes us cry and he makes us dance, and there is an icing on the cake as he has sung few fantastic songs in his own voice!!

Hema Malini looks gorgeous in this film. I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw her for the first time in saree. There was not a single wrinkle on her face. She looks much better than her horrible daughter.

Each sequence of these couple is very well executed & extremely worth a watch.

Paresh rawal adds some humor to relieve the tension.

Others are OK.

I was so involved in the movie that I forgot to keep watch on the technical details..i’ll do it later when I’ll watch it for the second time.

But once again, Amitabh n Hema are just fabulous !

Last words..

After a long time, when even Rajashri Productions failed to deliver family values, we have a true family entertainer. A must watch for a Amitabh fan. Go and watch Baghban with the whole family.
