I am really not the crying type in movies, I think the last time I did cry was when Fury died and I was seven, but Baghban made me use tons of handkerchiefs.
For me the climax was when the boy was shouted at (or was he even beaten?) by his parents for having repaired his grandfathers glasses.
Of course, many situations were rather cliché, such as the almost rape that didnt take place thanks Granny.
But to watch how perfect strangers displayed more interest in the old man than his family, was quite touching.
The point the movie makes is quite clear, but on the other hand, in small town flats or houses, with husband and wife working, kids at school, how can you possibly care properly for your parents? And not all parents are nice, they might be difficult, exacting and messing in your lives? This problem is not easily solved.
Still, the movie was very touching.
