Baghban - a witty answer

A clean family drama a must watch for every one. BR is one of the most respected Bollywood banners and has given films on themes. It may be Naya Daur, Waqt, Veer Zara or the latest Baghban.

Moral is always there without compromise on values of the subcontinent and simultaneously not ignoring the new trends, thinking and style of life.

Baghban in my view is not a tussle between two generations but a challenge for three generation to struggle for a harmonious life and a respectable living. Amitabh-Hema pair represent yesterdays grace and values; their married children struggle unsucessfully for the harmony from modern way of livig while Salaman-Mahima pair despite being today’s generation not only want to respect the values but want to preserve them while love for the grandchildren help narrow the differences and become a bridge between two generations.

You get every thing decent in the film to watch with your familly. Meanningful dialogues, talks & conversations between Amitabh & Hema, Amitabh & his friends at the bank, Parish Rawal and his love for his wife which he seldeom expresses but tells Amitabh that he deliberately speaks wrong idioms just to make his wife correct him and watch the glimpses of happiness on his wife’s face; the two forms of continued common attitudes among daughter-in-laws (one group scorns father & mother-in-law while the other respects); pangs of separation and not remembering but reviving the good old days on reunion with great enthusiam and vigour; and the admisison/confession by Amitabh: "Pooje main tum se bahot mohabbat karta hoon, behad ..."; a wife & mother’s tough stance & plight but at the end: "Haan ek man hone ne nate shayad apne khoon ko maaf kar sakti lekin ek patni hone ke nate apne pati ke un aansuon ko maaf nahin kar sakti jinki wajah tum sab ho. Kal ka pata nahin, aaj tum sab ko deene ke liye mere paas kuch bhi nahin, maafi bhi nahin ..." are such wonderful and emotional scene one will seldom forget.

My children have seen the movie once, They don’t like my viewing it whenver it is shown on one of the Indian channels.
