Enjoy Paradise..at least for a weekend!

Living in South Florida, a jaunt toThe Bahamas makes a wonderful, relaxing, inexpensive weekend. (If you don’t gamble away all your money ;) )

There are about 700 islands that actually make up the Bahamas. The islands I’ve been to are, Nassau, Freeport, Paradise, and Grand Bahama. I’ve also been to a few small cays(which are basically, tiny, mostly unnamed islands). The first 4 I named, are by far, the most travelled islands.

A short 40 minute plane ride, or a more leisurely full day cruise gets us South Floridians to these magical islands.

Once there you are greeted by warm breezes, bright sunshine, swaying palm trees and beautiful, clean, clear, aqua colored water.

This is a most perfect place to skin dive or go snorkeling. The waters are perfectly clear and the ocean life is quite abundant. You can snorkel along beautiful reefs, (DO NOT TOUCH! Don’t harm the coral!), or dive in and see sunken warships.

You can rent a horse and ride along the beautiful shoreline, play a round of golf on perfectly manicured golf courses, or just take a leisurely stroll through the Straw Market where you can shop to your hearts content, or the International Bazaar or the Port Lucaya Market. You’ll find beautiful handcrafted surprises for you there.

There are also many night clubs peppered along the beautiful beaches. You can dance the night away to all kinds of music, from island goombay to hot rock. Or you can choose a quiet romantic little club.

The food on the islands is great. Especially the exceptionally fresh fish(caught daily). There are also some dinner theatres(sorry to say, I’ve never been to one) and last but truly not least, you have the great casinos, with their shows, clubs, restaurants and gambling.

The Bahamas offers everyone something to do. And best of all, it offers it all for very reasonable prices.

So, next time you’re in Florida, take a couple of days and relax in the beautiful Bahamas!
