The well known Bajaj Group also sells microwaves and the 2500-ETC is the latest addition to the range of microwaves they are selling.
Catering to the present trends in the market the 2500-ETC also permits convection cooking as well as microwave cooking. The 2500 stands for the capacity of the oven which is 25 litres and the ETC stands for Electronic timer with Convection cooking capability which is possessed by the oven.
It is directly imported from Korea and marketed by Bajaj in India under their own brand name. The outer body is painted white, with the control panel and the door in a contrasting black colour. The control panel boasts of soft touch buttons and a unique set of seven pre-programmed buttons for various dishes such as baked potatoes, popcorn, pizza, meat skewers, beverage, cake, auto reheat.
The oven can also be used for rapid defrosting of dishes. Below the various buttons is a rather large door lock switch which ensures that the user doesn’t have to haul open the door by yanking on the handle of the door as is the case in other brands, but can instead open the door by depressing the door lock switch. Various levels of micro wave power can be set from 10% to 100% by pressing a certain sequence of buttons. The combination mode permits the user to combine convection cum microwave cooking. The duration of cooking can also be selected right upto 99 min. 99 sec. The internal steel cavity of the oven is steel grey in colour with a smooth finish which can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth, if while in use any spillage of food occurs inside the oven.
The heating element which is placed at the top of the cavity is concealed to protect the user from accidentally sustaining burns due to coming in contact with the hot element. The turn table which is of special glass is slightly larger than one foot in diameter. A metal baking tray is also provided with the oven for baking cakes in convection mode. A good bright lamp permits one to observe the cooking in progress through the high visibility door.
The extremely comprehensive user’s manual provided along with the oven brings the user full information about the oven and operating instructions enabling the user to obtain the optimal performance. The recipe book provides mouth watering recipes for dishes that can be prepared in the microwave oven such as vegetarian, non-vegetarian, breakfasts, snacks, desserts and other dishes. The book is also well illustrated with the pictures of the dishes triggering an immediate response from the salivary glands of the reader.
A card for a free cookery class comes along with the oven. Several dishes such as rice can be prepared in the oven. The delivery takes place well before the date and time specified, though a dent was seen on the top of the cover of the microwave oven though this dent was seen also on the model on display. The inner corners of the door are a little sharp. The sales and service support are excellent.
