When I decided to buy a bike, the main constraint for me was the money. So I was looking for the low price bikes. Boxer CT was 35K in Dec’03 and was affordable for me. 35K is the starting price for bikes but still BOXER is a good bike without any doubt. Lets see how good it is....
Look : I have a silver coloured one. And according to me it is the best colour. The other colours are red and black. The shape of the fuel tank is nice, slightly compressed at the two sides. I am not happy with the lock. Not very tough to break. But still, when I stand in the signals, people take a look.
Fuel efficiency: NICE. I get 65. Yes, I know that they claim 100. But mind you they put a * after that 100 and write at the bottom of the advertisement that it is in ideal conditions. Come to the reality. It is 65 in city.
Pick up: You can not demand milage and pick-up at the same time. Poor pick up. But it does not matter for me as I do not use my bike for racing. Wait, I want to add something. I have faced a situation many times, that when I start from a signal my bike starts as the last of the lot but very soon (say within 300 m) it overtakes many bikes, city dawn, sometimes splendor also. The speed reaches 30 from 0 very slowly, but 30 to 60 take considerably low time compared to the 0-30 time. Strange but true.
Max. speed: I reached 90KM/Hr without trouble. It did not shake. But if you maintain 60+ for long time, the engine gets heated. After all 100 cc bike it is.
Among other things, there is no fuel indicator. Obviously creates problem. Headlight is strong. Deeper reaches long enough. There is no starting problem, even if it is drenched. Seat is very wide and flat. Although not advisable but it can take three people without much problem. There is no disc break, so take caution if you are driving in rain. Superb balance. If you are planning to buy a bike for daily home-office-home route, this is wonderful. But for long drive, NO. Well, no human is perfect and its just a bike.
