Bajaj chetak was my first scooter in 70s n now I had shifted from chetak 1974 then to chetak 1985 to lml vespa 1992 to maruti 800 to currently swift.
But first things can not be forgotten & my affection with this scooter is still fresh.I remember how difficulty I had faced in getting mine first chetak....i had to spent a heavy premium to get ny chetak delivered in 1974. The styling was same predessor vespa 150 but was with larger wheel.
Average was about 38-40. Then I had sold mine first chetak to get new one in 1985....n latter to attractive lml. Although pml were good in pickup n style but it was mine old warhorse which is still near to my heart. Now I had chetak & lml & wenever I get time I use it for small distances. I remember my days when I was posted in pune...
I had to drive 30 km in both morning & evening....it was this chetak which was my faithful companion for those glorious days..Whenever I go now on long drives that essentially reminds me of my chetak days in 70s ’80s. I know now chetak is stopped from production but it was a great performer & reliable. Its maintenance was easy as compared to lml
