Couple of months back I was trying to find a suitable bik efor me in 125 cc category.
After doing a research on various factors such as mileage, performance, spare parts, stability, resale value, looks etc. I bought a Discover 135 cc last January.
Yesterday I had my 1st service. During this period I had traveled about 650 km and I am not sure yet whether I made a correct decision.
This is my 1st experience with a bike though I had a scooter earlier. So I am not sure whether I am fully qualified to write a review regarding my bike at all.
But when I had decided to buy a bike the thing I did not consider at all is the resale value. Because I did not buy it for sale, infact I bought it for my use.
Most of my friends suggested HH as they still feel it has a great resale value may be they are true. But I dont think that should be a factor while buying a bike.
Anyway after a month of riding these are my initial reviews:
*Looks wise discover 135 lacks :
*1. Digital Speed Console (lower range 125cc xcd has it, how come!)
LED rear lamps
All gear Indicator ( not only the N indicator)
Irrespective of all the loophole in its performance Bajaj is know for its looks, so atleast it should have the above in its 135 cc category , especially when a lower range vehicle has all these, though the presence of all these adds no power to the performance, certainly adds a bit of value to the vehicle.
Technically discover lacks in:
*1. A 5th gear which is a must for a bike more than 125 cc (any justification for the absence of it !)
- It has to work hard on the performance of the gear box
As I am relatively new to the bike riding I am not sure , but I feel while shifting gear, 3 out of ten times , I have faced problem. I am not sure whether its a smooth shift at all or not .
Most of the time the gear shifts to 3 from neutral.
Is it natural in the 1st 2/3 months? I am not sure.
I am very happy for the reason that the bike does not have any noise problem, but its too soon to state on that.
Can someone please tell me how to judge whether a bike is having a gear box problem. Because most of the bikes which I have tried in these 2/3 months before buying this one has more or less same gear problem while shifting.
At times its smooth and at times its messy.
Except Zeus I tried all the other similar category bikes, and I feel like all the bikes are more or less same performance when it comes to quality.
Only difference comes in mileage.
I am not going to say that Discover 135 is a bad bike as its too early to say this.
But I am not a greatly delighted customer either.
If anyone has purchased a discover 135 please share the initial feelings with me.
Will there be any thing that I ll love about it future after a month or two. or will it continue to perform the way it s doing now?
I mean I am not sure whether its a prudent decision to go for this bike, on my criteria.
But watch this column, for my review after 2nd month.
Thanks,
Guyan
