Good Bike (135); Terrible Service Personnel

I got mine for Rs 57K on road, a 135 cc based on the reviews on this site. No regrets whatsoever.

The absolute first thing noticeable about the bike is the handling.

I have used bikes from the HH stable, and in traffic jams, with a pillion rider, none handled as gracefully as the Discover. The wider rear tire makes it stable even at very low speeds(<10 kmph).

When it was new, the acceleration was fantastic, so was the mileage. It dropped after the first service at the dealers. I was told - "the engine needs time to come back to normal after the first service!" - something I did not believe. I went to another’Authorised’ dealer for the second service - this was a repeat of the first one. I still had a low powered new bike!

When I enquired with the parameters he had set for the tune-up, I was appalled. Against the rated idling of 1300 RPM, this mechanic set the idling(and air-screw) for a 1000 RPM idle. This is the same case with ALL the’authorised’ mechanics I checked with. They use parameters of the older 100 cc bikes to tune the newer engines. Obviously the engine was tuned outside of its designed optimal operating range.

Even at the risk of’losing the warranty’, I decided for an immediate next service at amechanic I knew was reliable. The performance returned, although only after a Rs 350 replacement of the bent valves.

I have used this in differeing conditions, heavy traffic, and open roads. The acceleration is good, milage is decent(45-55 kmpl), and the bike takes quire a bit of rough handling without any complaints. the bike is stable taking corners at high speeds, and the disk brake performs well, for an added feeling of security.

Overall, I recommend this as a very good buy. but make sure you have a really good mechanic, not overzealous to get you the maximum mileage out of the bike. Better not give the bike to the showroom mechanic, even if they claim they are’trained’- those guys are just scrwedriver mechanics, with no real idea of engine performance.
