We are targeting about 20 per cent of the segment and if achieve that the Dominar will be a USD 1 billion brand in the next 12-18 months, Bajaj officials said.
In terms of looks, the new Bajaj sports an LED unit for a headlamp - a first for any bike in this segment. The instrument console is an all-digital unit as the tell-tale lights have been mounted on the tank.
At the heart of things is the 373cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve motor that has been borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke. The motor comes equipped with Bajajs triple spark technology and DTS-i technology that enables it to produce 35PS at 8, 000rpm and 35Nm at 6, 500rpm of peak torque.
Power is transmitted through a six-speed transmission while the biggest talking point is the addition of a slipper clutch. The fuel tank capacity stands at 13 litres but, at 182kg, the Dominar comes across as a bulky ride.
