Pulsar 135 LS - Under the hood

The Bajaj brand name has truly taken a very dear position in hearts of all Indians. With the boom brought forward by P150 and its descendants, it has truly changed the face of biking in India. Midst these emotions, I purchased my Pulsar 135.

I got it in the month of August 2010 and I have ridden almost 6500 km so far. I personally had a lot of expectations with the bike.  And the new modification done to the bike on the mudguard of the rear tyre was making it even more appealing.

But to be frank, presently I am a bit disappointed with the entire package.  I had started facing minor problems in the first month itself. There were quite a few cases of engine misfiring in the first month itself.  I thought it to be very unusual, but the thrill of the new bike made me swipe the dirt under the rug.

I was still very happy. And the fact that I was getting a mileage of 62 kmpl made me ecstatic. But as months flew by, the problems started to be more prominent. My bike started showing symptoms, that had infested all Pulsars from the past. Gear shifting was becoming irritating.

The accuracy was degrading day by day.  The engine started missing shifts between the gear transitions.  It was like there existed a neutral gear between the 3rd and the 4th gear :(.

One more problem that I encountered in the first month itself was the immense amount of vibration. All my pillion riders would complaint of the high vibration felt during higher RPM :(.

And this problem is still making life miserable for me. Vibrations start annoying to a great extent, when the speed crosses 65 kmph or reaches a high rpm at lower gears.

I personally believe that people who travel a lot in the night, shouldn’t go for this bike.  The intensity of light is very low. The high beam has no prominent effect.

The only plus point I found in the bike was a descent mileage and light weight handling in traffic.
