Here I want to share my worst experience of Pulsar 220 DTS-i 2009 edition model bike. I brought this bike on Oct 22, 2009 with full joy and happiness from Khiviraj Bajaj (Kasturaba rd, Bangalore).
I have IRC tyers instead of MRF, sale man said no stock of MRF and he said IRC is imported one and also used in Baja Ninja bikes.
Oct 23: Early morning I tried to start the bike it refused, second time I tried got stared I know this bike have cold start problem have to keep in idiling mode for a minute.
I drive the bike for 5 KM, its was good in pickup, power but I maintained 40-50Km speed. On ride tyers did not impress me, in mud roads it slips on breaking or tumbles or difficult to handle the bike. After 5Km I heard a wierd noise from rear tyer like a old lorry puts heavy break, it shocked me and I took the bike to service station, there it shocked me more mechanic took a plastic hammer and starting hitting the disc hardly, I asked "what r u doing boss?", he said "Sir, disc is not in circle or round position I am trying to make it correct.", amazing to see that. After that I did not hear any sound.
Oct 24: With happiness I wished to take my bike to my office, started the bike, after 5 km I had a big shock, In signal I use to shut the bike, green signal came I tried to start the bike it refused, I thought fuel may be less its a big bike so I pushed it for 3 KM to a petrol bunk and I filled fuel for Rs. 500 (9.2L). Then I tried to start the bike its refused, I was very angry and I called up dealer for help. He gave wierd tips, he said to check the fuse is connected correctly, to check battry and etc, finally I found its battery problem, its dead. Then a mechanic was sent and he replaced the battery.
Oct 25 to Nov 10: I did had any problem.
Nov 11: I feeled little vibration
Nov 12 to Nov 23: Vibration increased in such a way that it gave me the feeling that I am running old LML scooter, horrible. I though after 1st service it reduce.
Nov 24: One month completed with 745 KM, I had first service.
Nov 25: After first I had following problems:
Rear break weird noise increased.
Starter Clutch Noise (hammer hit on metal sound from engine).
High Vibration (Cant sit).
Rough Engine like old scooter makes.
Idling is not set properly, bike vibrates and put off frequently.
Horrible, after first service problem have to reduce, In my case it was a begining.
Nov 26, Nov 27: I went contuniously telling the above problem, they just try to convience me but no action. Finally I made my mind and sent direct mail to Bajaj Customer care (customerservice@bajajauto.co.in), I asked for a new bike claiming its a defected one.
Nov 30: I got phone from dealer and he asked all my problem and I took my bike there. They drive my bike and came to conclusion that wrongly they have serviced my bike. I think email to Bajaj customer care have worked.
Dec 1: Dealer called me I went to showroom and had a test ride its was satifactory, it gave me the feeling like when I brought the bike.
Dec 3, 2009: Getting mileage of 35+ KM/L on city (40-50KM/h). I did not find good pickup and power attained top speed of 95KM). Have to test on highway roads.
Dec 10 - Dec 16: Again my problem revisted, vibration and Starter clutch noise stared, I was totally exhusted.
Dec 17, 2009: I took the vehicel to show room blasted like any thing and thretened to sue them in Cunsumer court. They promised and opened the Starter clutch, it was damaged. Again they replace with new that too of Pulsar 180CC starter clutch. I was not happy went to office and wrote to Baja Customer care with to take back there bike and let see them in Court.
Dec 18, 2009: I got a call from Showroom by Mr. Badresh (Ph: 948156185, Senior Service Incharge) his voice was very pleasing must got blasted from Bajaj and he promised to replace full Clutch assembly. I did not agreed, but he promised in future no problem will arise. I took the bike replaced the full clutch assembly and did a little tune up.
Today (Jan 6, 2010): I am sharing with you people, completed 2005KM, no major problem I faced again. But vibration, jerk in clutch handle. Let see if any good bike was lunched I will sell this one.
