Hi every one,
I am from srilanka, read some of your views on pulsar. I too own a 150cc, round light-non dtsi. bought it 8 months ago , done 7000kms. the bikes are pretty popular down here. DTSI= IS A STORM , cheers on the beautiful styling, the front head light in particular.
let me tell of a few things that bothers me about the bike- firstly I had a problem with the gearing , on high revs the gears tend to get stuck, the gears dont change smooth enough. the bike revs like hell, this had some gettin used to. now I almost never have this problem. next I found the head light a little enadequate in terms of light. after having adjusted the head lamp seems better. the DTSI however has a halogen head lamp which is more brighter. next was a vibration that came from the speedo console when revving around 4000. this too how ever dissapears with time, dont know how. another problem I have is the rear occupant keeps sliding down from time to time specially during braking. on climbing a hill or racing the engine from 2nd to 3rd to 4th I hear an unhealthy noise from the engine department. is this normal ? the front mudguard seems to hit on the number plate once in while if let into potholes. this is probably because of the larger number plates in our country. well thats all of the down sides I can remember. now for the plus sides. 1)fuel economy - around 55kmpl- in city. 2) great styling with lines and good posture, love the muscular fuel tank, I only fuel up once a month. 3)the exhaust note is a treat to the ear specially when breaking down a gear and slowing down to a hault from a high rev, sounds better than the DTSI. 4) pick up is good 2 nd gear onwards , 100km is fastest I have pushed. road grip , braking, handling is good, how ever in slow traffic it gets a little difficult to balance when you have some one at the back specially if he or she is heavy. guess a fatter tyre at the rear should do the trick. 5) the rear shocks seem to be a bit hard.
overall I like the bike, like other reviews state there is some thing manly about it. girls like it too. many have asked me to take them on a ride. there is going to be a pulsar racing event too some time in 2005 I think here in sri lanka.
i have previously used several bikes like HONDA HAWK 250, SUZUKI GN125, CBR 250RR , HONDA BAJA250 , I would be unfair to compare the pulsar with these as these are japanese bikes and perform differently, also the pulsar is not forracing it isbuilt for urban use and not meant to be thrown around.
i service thebike every 3000kms after 6000kms as per manual,
a friend adviced me to sell the bike and go for a CBZ or a japanese XLR or some thing as these would last much longer on the long run.
what do u think ?pls reply please advice me on dos and donts and what I should expect for the future , services replacements , repairs etc. please e-mail me if you have any tips to give me shazadxk8@hotmail.com

bye to you all and happy and safe riding
