Hi guys,
This is my first review at Mouthshut.com. After deliberating for quite a while, I decided to go ahead and buy the bike that has been starring in my wet dreams. Yes! its the new bajaj Pulsar DTSi with mag wheels and gas shocks. So I dropped in at the closest Bajaj dealership i.e. SK Auto at Thurbe(opp. JuiNagar stn.), Navi Mumbai. The salesman quoted a price of Rs. 59, 990 on-road for the P 150 with Electric start, but reduced it to Rs. 58, 990, when I pointed out that it was one of the highest in all of Maharashtra(including Mumbai).
Ok, as far as I am concerned(may not be so for someone and I know that someone, who has already purchased the bike for 59, 990). I then requested for a test ride and was promptly given a spanking new dark metallic green p150 (with less than 10 Kms on the odo) and a mechanic for pillion(to ensure that I return to the showroom with the bike).
It breaks my heart guys to say that I was totally disappointed. Here is a bike that I feel is one of the best looking of all machines in India, and it is being let down by its clutch and gearbox. What happened was that I engaged the first gear and set the bike in motion.
Then at the showroom compound gate I was stopped by the guard to register the bike for the test ride. I braked, pressed the clutch(the bike was still in first gear) and was about to enter the chassis and engine number in the register, when I heard an engine knocking sound. The pillion mechanic told me that it was because the bike was in gear and I was pressing the clutch.
I am no bike expert but I am pretty sure that an engine shouldt knock when the bike isnt even in motion. I then proceeded for the test ride and hat to return promptly to the showroom at the behest of the pillion mechanic(I think he had other appointments to keep).
So the long and short is that I have post phoned the purchase and would rather wait until Bajaj gets its act together on the technical as well as the dealership front. However, Hondas Unicorn sounds promising and my brother seems to like it. So Bajaj, if you are listening please please set things right ASAP, before my brother convinces me to go in for the Unicorn.
PS: I once had a disease called caliber. But, I passed it on to another sucker for 12 grands.
