I am Mudit, presently in Trivandrum. I sold my bajaj Caliber and got a Pulsar 180 (Black) 3 months black. I am so very happy that I took this decision. Not that Caliber was a bad bike, but Pulsar is really something!!!
Likes for this bike:
Looks!! Well I had to decide between looks for CBZ and Pulsar, it was a tough decision in the begining, but when I inspected CBZ from close, my decision was Pulsar!. Pulsar is definitely a male and has a wide smiling naughty face.
The build quality of Pulsar is also much better than CBZ, I felt that the plastics used in Pulsar are far superior to those of CBZ.
Headlights are really good, though not as good as my previous caliber.
Self starter is a blessing while driving in heavy traffic. You can start the bike in gear also. On a traffic light or while moving at very slow speeds if your bike goes off, just press the clutch and hit the starter button. Otherwise you should kick start the bike....Even kick starting is all together a differet experience.
Now come to the power. It is amazing. You can feel the bike pumping in power to the wheels the moment you open the throttle slightly.
One of the most frustrating experiences of bike riding is when you are driving behind a bus or a truck which is moving fast enough (35 KMph) but still you cannot overtake it as there is continuous traffic from the other side. The window that you get for overtaking is very short. Most of the times you start overtaking and by the time you are halfway, some vehicle comes from the other side and you have to back up. And if you are unlucky, there is some other vehicle at your original postion...very dangerous situation....but with pulsar it is all together different. Once you feel that you have a window of acceleration, just open the throttel a little bit more and very easily in no time, you are in front.
This bike all together gives a total confidence while driving, you know that bike will remain in control all the time, it will not sway....it will obey your commands...you want to brake...no issues....the brakes are very responsive. Some guys say disk brakes are dangerous to use. believe me, they are not...in fact they can be life savers. but I would not advice anyone to try hitting hard on disk brakes.
Riding Comfort...if your drive is less than 1 hour mins then it is very comfortable ....but beyond this you need to take a small brake.
Things that would have made the bike even better.
Well as a bajaj package I was mentally preprared to get a bike with hard gears and false neutrals. It takes some time to get used to gear shifts in this bike as the gears are comparitively harder and you face problems of false neutral.
Things people say, but I dont mind.
Well..true that bike does not give you 80kmpl of mileage..I get 48Kmpl. But believe me, today also when I ride this bike, I enjoy it more than ever. Mileage is not everything. The power, the confidence, the control is also what counts. For this bike anything greater than 40kmpl keeps me satisfied.
Right now I am more than satisfied.
