Gud bike for the price

Hi ,

It was after I graduated from engineering that dad nodded acceptance towards me riding a motorbike. Probably, he felt I had evolved wiser hence. Post admiring and wishing for bikes which my friends used to own, it was finally time for me to get a bike of my own. Given a no constraints budget(More than 3 years back), I wud have personally gone for the CBZ, for its looks. However, dad was of the opinion I go for something with lower power, and also more sane acc to the older genrn.

Budget was also a lill restricted.

After much dilly-daddling, it was then tht I hit upon the Pulsar, which I heard abt from my friend.

Post reading a few reviews posted here on Mouthshut , I had decided. 54, 500 on road (Hyderabad) was what I had to shell out for the most basic versions of this beast.

A gud 3 years later, my overall opinion of this vehicle is gud. Save for the electricals which always has, and still continues to niggle till-date, the rest of the bike has handled well, despite rough use, as well as under extreme care.

Mileage has been consistent early on giving me a healthy 53 kmpl for my kind of riding. Off late, it has dropped to abt 50 or so, but then again traffic on Bangalore roads hasnt helped one bit.

My opinion to all interested in the Pulsar clan is, GO FOR IT.

Add-ons :

I had a comment that I needed to write more on my experiences with the bike.. so, here goes.

As far as looks are concerned, the initial period when I bought the bike, there were very few Pulsars on road in hyd. When u stopped at a signal light, or when u parked it somwhere, u cud feel the adulation as well as curious glances from people beside u... and all u needed to do was enjoy the adulation. Ofcourse, there were also a lot many who queried abt the mileage and stuff, as is the typical Indian mindset.

When zipping off from a signal, there were innumerable Splendors who just revved, and asked to be humbled before this beast. Without question, we all know which bike came out on top.

As is with any mechanical device, Pulsie, as I fondly call him also had his share of visits to the garage, or service center. AS previously mentioned, electricals were faulty, and my experience with halogen headlamps used to give frequent konk-outs, though the illumination provided was gud.

Work took its toll on me, and Pulsie sufferred in the process.. though silently..

i must say that though I hadnt serviced the bike for almost a year, with trips of abt 1600-1700 kms per month, it still returned good service. Mileage dipped during this period, but was at manageable levels.

The stock tyres were begging for a change, and I obliged with the Dunlop CBZ tyres, which were wider as against the 150 stock tyres, and while there was not much affect on the mileage, road grip consierably improved. Am still running on the original MRF front tyres to-date.

All these just go to say how much Pulsie has put up with luv, as well as total negligence from my part, and still remains ever-faithful. Once again,   I reiterate my opinion on the Pulsar . GO FOR IT.
