Discover the New Pulsar

Well , here I write about two bikes that was reviewed most on MS and my long trip on both these bikes without dwelling into technical jargons. The discover 125CC kick start I owned for about a year and half and my transition to the new Pulsar 150CC is the basis of this review.

*The ride

*Discover is Smooth , solid at high speed. Good shocks and comfort for the pillion rider.Lot of vroom, alas only for a single rider. Seating and riding posture is perfect for long rides. DTSI fails to kick in at low speeds, the engine knocks when riding at lower speeds/gears.

The new pulsar is great to ride at low speeds without having to hold half clutch. The bike obiviously has the power over the discover. However it cannot vroom like the discover. The shocks are not the best of breed. Riding the pulsar can be a ’pain in the back’ and  not for long rides. The pillion rider needs to exercise some acrobatic skills to mount this bike (the helmet lock can make things worse). Gear shifts are better than the discover but not without some teething problems like getting the bike to neutral and false neutrals.

Advantage : Discover, if you are left without a choice.

*Looks

*Pulsar is a great looking, macho kind of bike. The new tail lights could have been better. The digital panel is good. The discover has good looks too but tad different from the pulsar .

Advantage : Pulsar

*Mileage

*Discover sucks big time in this department. The mileage I got from this bike was about 44Kmpl on normal or other petrol. The service centers promise to recify the problem but can’t deliver what they promise. Pulsar gives you a decent 50kmpl on city roads when riding 50 to 65kmph

Advantage : Pulsar

*Features

*The new Pulsar has this beautiful digital panel for speedo, Tacho, fuel and trip. The self canncelling indicator is a boon. It works well and is a very handy feature in city traffic.Discover lacks any addons and is a simple bike at that.

Advantage : Pulsar.

Cost

The on road price of discover is less by around 15 to 25K compared to Pulsar and depending on the city you are in.

Finally, like all product you take some and give some. The ultimate choice is yours and only yours.

Cheers
