Small, Colourful and Very Likeable. Yes, though this phone has been in the market for quite a while, its prices have come down now, and I can see more of this phone now. It?s a twin of Nokia 3100, only differing in its upper metallic body, which is, I must admit, pretty awe-awakening.
Who is it for: If you are a college going student, or if it?s your first cell, you are going to like it. And if you want a budget phone with no frills (and no freaks too), a little advanced technology (color phone, supports camera, connect to the computer, GPRS), you can go for it. It?s got it basics right: making and receiving calls, sending and receiving messages, it does it all well. It?s an upgrade worth considering if you are bored with your old monochrome cell.
Feature Set
[1] With 4096 colors, it sure has a pleasing appearance. However the display fades a lot in the bright Sun and it?s difficult to read messages then. Hey, in the evenings and night, it sure looks a sweet baby flaunting!!
[2] GPRS: I have an Airtel connection. The Airtel Live Browsing was hassle free though one may like a bigger screen and less of scrolling. It isn?t bad either. Good to have one with 2.5 G technology!
[3] One touch goes to the calendar. Though calendar is available in all new phones, the ease of use of this feature in this phone is mentionable. and you don?t have to update birthday reminders every year: for this phone knows birthdays are meant to be celebrated every year.
[4] Messaging is a jiffy affair with neat keypads and the awesome nokia dictionary mode. You can add words to the dictionary too.
[5] Has integrated hands free and you can use this feature if you like to keep your hands busy with something else. Works well.
[6] Polyphonic ring tones are not one among the best this cell has. The volume is not audible in busy streets but hey, you can vibrate them. The playback isn?t bad at all.
[7] Wallpapers that come with the cell and the screensavers, both suck. They could have given better ones man.
[8] Has changeable color schemes, two configurable profiles, and something called message counter. Message counter is a really good tool to keep an eye on how much one messages.
[9] Body: Has a metallic upper finish which will get scratched in no time. A careless user must have a cover on (a Nokia 3100 fits it - aha). The back part of it is plastic, looks sturdy though. The phone is available in 2 colors, Lemon tree green and blue. Apparently the blue version is no longer in manufacture according to the Nokia priority dealer from whom I brought it from. Its also small that fits into all my pockets.
[10] Weight: 84 grams isn?t heavy for me at all.
Final Tell: If you want a phone that does it work well and looks good too and is very usable, go for it. It?s not a high end phone mind you, to have camera etc. But then they could have given IR and FM radio to make it a definite winner.
