More perfect bike to compare another bike

About Bajaj Pulsar SS400

Preview

Bajaj Motorcycles unveiled the Pulsar SS400 at the 2014 Auto Expo. This bike will be part of Bajaj’s super sport family that will consist of fully- faired motorcycles. It also includes its rumoured small sibling, the Pulsar RS200.

The overall design of the Pulsar SS400 is aggressive and looks very busy. The fairing is huge with many lines that make it look overdone. The fuel tank is large as well and we expect it to carry at least 15-litres of fuel. The chassis is new with the design bit taken from the NS200. The taillight is new and the design is something that’s never been seen on any Indian bike. The SS400 features an analog tachometer and digital speedometer along with a small screen that will display rest of the details. ABS is standard in this bike but not yet confirmed if it can be switched off.

The Pulsar SS400 is powered by a 375cc liquid cooled fuel-injected engine. Bajaj Auto is tightlipped about the power figures but we expect it to be slightly lower than the 390 Duke. The Pune-based manufacturer has reworked this engine which now gets its patented triple spark technology.

The Bajaj Pulsar SS400 will be launched in India later this year. We are expecting Bajaj to launch the Pulsar RS200 before the SS400 which we think will be priced between Rs 1.6 lakh and Rs 1.8 lakh(ex-showroom). Bajaj will launch the Pulsar SS400 in many attractive colours like yellow and blue.
