Bajaj V keeps the legacy of INS Vikrant alive, is one of the top 10 selling motorcycles in April

The V, the commuter motorcycle that has been made from the metal of the dismantled INS Vikrant — India’s first aircraft carrier — has become one of the top 10 selling motorcycles in India. The V, which was launched in March by the popular two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto, has managed to take the 10th spot in April 2016 with the sale of 20, 057 units.
The bike, which keeps the legacy of India’s most celebrated aircraft carrier INS Vikrant alive, was launched at a price tag of Rs. 62, 076(ex-showroom Karnataka) in March. Bajaj sold 16, 532 units of the V in the month of its launch and saw increased sales in April.
While Hero Motocorp’s Splendor, Hero HF Deluxe, Hero Passion and Hero Glamour sealed the top four positions with 2, 24, 238 units, 1, 16, 567 units, 98, 976 units and 66, 756 units respectively, Bajaj CT and Pulsar secured fifth and seventh positions respectively. In April, Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 has also entered the list, earning the ninth place. Other models in the list of 10 best selling motorcycles are Honda CB Shine in the sixth place and Honda Dream in the eighth place.
Coming back to the V, it measures 2, 044mm in length, 780mm in width and 1, 070mm in height. It comes with a wheelbase of 1, 315mm and a ground clearance of 165mm. Powering the V is a 149.5cc single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled DTS-i engine that can churn out a maximum power of 11.8bhp at 7, 500rpm and 13Nm of torque at 5, 500rpm. Bajaj V features a fuel tank of 13 litres and is available in two colours — ebony black and pearl white.
